Media Artefacts
Multimedia Installation, Stefan Baltensperger, 2008
The installation “Media Artefacts” originates through an aesthetic conversion of information. It is a fictitious story formed not by the artist but by the «reality generator», a computer program based in real-time.
The computer program analyses news from the internet and compares them with the spoken contents of movie sequences.
If the program finds a word in the news matching a spoken word in a sequence of a movie in its library, this sequence will be projected on a silver screen. Thus a fictitios story or alternative truth which will never have an end, originates.
